About the service

Traumatic Cervical Dystonia (Spastic Torticollis) caused by high velocity injury can cause a chronic Spasmodic Torticollis that is painful and debilitating musculoskeletal disorder. Patients develop stiffness in one or more neck muscles that prevents them from moving their head in one direction or another or locks their head in a forward, side or rotated position.  The Botox® or Xeomin® injected directly into the overactive neck muscles is a common treatment. The drug interrupts messages from the brain to neck muscles telling them to contract. Although Botox® or Xeomin® cannot cure the disorder, it is an effective management tool for reduction of pain and limited motion that lasts 3-4 months at a time.

Lea Medical Therapies performs this procedure under advanced imaging which helps to reduce the time of injection, pain and improves the accuracy of locating specific muscles.
